of our web site, let us offer what Spiritual Direction is, and what a Spiritual Director
does. For more details, please visit: http://www.shalem.org/. "Spiritual direction is also known as spiritual guidance or spiritual friendship. It's an ongoing relationship between a person who desires to be more attentive to God's presence in his or her spiritual life and a spiritual director who supports that desire. The person seeking direction and the spiritual director may opt to meet once per month. The most important aspect of a spiritual director is that he or she is responding to an invitation from God to participate in this ministry; that the gift of direction has been called forth by others; and that the director seeks to enhance his or her gift and skills through appropriate means." The first step to finding a director is prayer. Ask God to guide your search and to open your eyes to the possibilities available to you. Also, explore avenues already known to you such as people whose spirituality speaks to you, i.e. your pastor, a friend, or acquaintance, and certainly the list we've provided.
